US shares lower at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.46%

At the close in New York, the Dow Jones shed 0.46%, the S&P 500 shed 1.48% and the NASDAQ Composite shed 3.02%.

The leaders of growth among the components of the Dow Jones index at the end of today's trading were shares of UnitedHealth Group Incorporated, which rose in price by 9.87 points (2.80%), to close at 362.05. JPMorgan Chase & Co rose 1.65% or 2.56 points to end at 157.65. 3M Company added 1.43% or 2.70 points to end at 191.00.

The shares of Chevron Corp were sharply lower, the price of which fell 3.91 points or 3.62% to end the session at 104.12. Apple Inc rose 3.39% or 4.23 points to end at 120.53, while Intel Corporation was down 3.12% or 2.06 points to 63.73. ...

The leaders of growth among the components of the S&P 500 index at the end of today's trading were the shares of Hartford Financial Services Group, which rose in price by 18.71% to the level of 68.15, PPL Corporation, which gained 5.96%, to close at 29.69, and also ViacomCBS Inc, which rose 4.79% to end at 96.76.

The biggest losers were Marathon Oil Corporation, which fell 8.40% to close at 10.68. Occidental Petroleum Corporation shed 8.33% to end the session at 26.62. Apache Corporation was down 8.32% to 19.24.

Upstart Holdings Inc, which gained 89.32% to 115.09, Jiayin Group Inc, which gained 73.62% to close at 9.41, and also Wisekey International Holding AG, which rose 64.37% to end at 13.10.

The biggest losers were Translate Bio Inc, which fell 30.89% to close at 17.76. Liquid Media Group Ltd shed 26.33% to end the session at 2.910. Integrated Media Technology Ltd was down 22.50% to 6.51.

Hartford Financial Services Group rose to its highs, rising 18.71%, 10.74 points to close at 68.15. ViacomCBS Inc rose to an all-time high, up 4.79%, 4.42 points to trade at 96.76. JPMorgan Chase & Co rose to an all-time high, gaining 1.65%, or 2.56 points, to trade at 157.65. 3M Company rose to a 52-week high, climbing 1.43%, 2.70 points to end at 191.00. Upstart Holdings Inc rose to an all-time high, climbing 89.32%, 54.30 points, to trade at 115.09. Jiayin Group Inc rose to a 52-week high, gaining 73.62%, 3.99 points to trade at 9.41. Wisekey International Holding AG rose to a 52-week high, climbing 64.37%, 5.13 points, to close at 13.10.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, was up 12.22% to hit 21.58.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.12% or 2.00 to $ 1,730.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities, WTI crude oil for April delivery fell 0.50%, or 0.30, to $ 59.70 a barrel. Futures contracts for Brent crude for delivery in May rose 0.32%, or 0.20, to trade at $ 62.95 a barrel.

Meanwhile, on the Forex market, EUR / USD was up 0.01% to hit 1.1916, while USD / JPY was up 0.13% to hit 109.02.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 91.877.
